Welcome to the Cretan Brotherhood

The Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne and Victoria is a non-for-profit social club that aims to foster and preserve Cretan culture and traditions. The club hosts cultural events including the annual commemorations for the Battle of Crete, educational programs including our Traditional Cretan Dance Classes, and welfare programs including our Elderly Member lunches. The club is a hub for community services and cultural activity for all ages.

Crete is the largest and most populous island of Greece and the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece while retaining its own local cultural traits (such as its own distinct dialect, geography, cuisine, traditions, poetry, and music). It’s not just Greece’s largest island, but arguably its most fascinating and diverse.
